Rain Shortened Ride
Rain Shortened Ride
At 7:00 am the streets were dry and there was no green blobs on the weather radar. However, by the time I got to Central Park the morning fog turned heavier and heavier until it was impossible to distinguish from a light rain. The pavement was wet, my clothes were soaked and, as you can see from the photo, my Oakleys in need of mini-wipers. No amount of creative self-deception would continue to convince me that it was either safe or smart to ride at high speed on slick asphalt.
The 40-year old Kimo would have ridden on, but the wiser current version returned to the barn and a steaming bowl of porridge with cranberries, almonds, protein powder and maple syrup.

After sixteen days with a hacking cough, Iām thinking that taking care of myself might be a better strategy than hammering around the Park in a cold rain. Duh.
